India International Science Festival (IISF) 2023 was organized in Haryana from January 17 to 20, 2024. It was concluded in the presence of state Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. On the occasion, the Chief Minister also announced the state government's plans to develop a state-of-the-art science city spread over 50 acres in Faridabad. Several MoUs were signed at IISF 2023.

Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Daljit Singh Chaudhary has been appointed Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Daljeet Singh is a 1990 batch IPS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre. The post of SSB Director General was vacant after former chief Rashmi Shukla was appointed DGP of Maharashtra earlier this month. The SSB guards India's borders with Nepal and Bhutan.

Recently the Odisha government, after successfully translocating deer from Cuttack, is planning to introduce Sambar and Gaur (Bison) into the Chandaka-Dampara Wildlife Sanctuary. Located in Khurda district, it marks the northeastern limit of the Eastern Ghats. Designated as a sanctuary in 1982, the area is home to various endangered wildlife and birds. With a tropical climate, the sanctuary has distinct seasons – summer, monsoon and winter. The diverse flora includes Dhaman, Bankapasia, Jamu, Gandhana, Kansa, Kusum, Marua, Siddha, Karanja and thorny bamboo. Fauna in the sanctuary includes elephant, chital, barking deer, wild boar, rhesus monkey, pangolin, sloth bear, Indian wolf, hyena and other mammals.

Recently, the China National Space Administration (CNSA) has confirmed that the Chang'e 6 sample return mission is scheduled to land on the Moon in the first half of 2024. The mission, which aims to collect lunar samples from the South Pole, will contribute valuable data. Marking the first attempt to obtain samples from the far side of the Moon to understand the geology of the Moon, Chang'e 6 plans to bring back up to two kilograms of Moon samples and will include collaboration between the European Space Agency (ESA) and the French Involves collaboration with international partners such as the space agency. The mission includes a lander, rover and contributions from various countries, emphasizing global scientific collaboration.
