Answer : 1. "Diamond"
Explanation :

Answer: A) Diamond Explanation: Diamond is the hardest substance available on Earth. Diamond is the hardest substance available on Earth due to the giant molecular structure of diamond in which each carbon atom is covalently bonded to four other carbon atoms. A covalent bond is very strong and requires a large amount of energy to break itself, and diamond has many covalent bonds.

Answer : 4. "Monsoon experiment"
Explanation :

Answer: D) Monsoon experiment Explanation: Monsoon experiment is abbreviated as MONEX.   The Monsoon Experiment is the core of the GARP Monsoon Subprogramme, which is a major international effort to achieve a better understanding of the Planetary monsoon circulation, the major seasonal perturbation of the general circulation of the atmosphere and the influence of the annual cycle of precipitation associated with the monsoon on the agriculture of the many populous nations of the region.   Hence, MONEX is associated with The Monsoon Experiment.

Answer : 2. "7/15"
Explanation :

Answer: B) 7/15 Explanation: Given total students in the class = 60Students who are taking Economics = 24 andStudents who are taking Calculus = 32Students who are taking both subjects = 60-(24 + 32) = 60 - 56 = 4Students who are taking calculus only = 32 - 4 = 28probability that a randomly chosen student from this group is taking only the Calculus class = 28/60 = 7/15.

Answer : 1. "Induce high voltage"
Explanation :

Answer: A) Induce high voltage Explanation: When the switch is ON, in a tube light choke is nothing but the coil/ballast ( inductor) which is used to induce the high voltage across it. as we know that inductor has property to induce high voltage for the brief period of time, this high voltage is required to ionize the gases in the starter. Then gas inside the starter gets ionized due to this full voltage and heats the bimetallic strip that is caused to be bent to connect to the fixed contact. Current starts flowing through the starter. Although the ionization potential of the neon is the little bit more than that of the argon but still due to small electrode gap high voltage gradient is appeared in the neon bulb and hence glow discharge is started first in a starter. As voltage gets reduced due to the current causes a voltage drop across the inductor, the strip cools and breaks away from the fixed contact. At that moment a large L di/dt voltage surge comes across the inductor at the time of breaking. This high valued surge comes across the tube light electrodes and strikes penning mixture (mixture argon gas and mercury vapor). Gas discharge process continues and current gets the path to flow through the tube light gas only due to low resistance as compared to the resistance of starter.

Q: Vishal and Raghu jointly started a business. Vishal invested three times as Raghu did and invested his money for double time as compared to Raghu. Raghu earned Rs. 4000. Answer : 1. "Rs. 28,000"
Explanation :

Answer: A) Rs. 28,000 Explanation: Investments ratio is = 3:1Time period ratio is = 2:1 As they are proportional to gain ------Gain ratio of Vishal and raghu = 6:1 But given Raghu got Rs. 4000,  =? 1 ----- 4000     7 -----    ? => Rs.28,000 The total gain = Rs.28,000

Answer : 3. "9 & 21"
Explanation :

Answer: C) 9 & 21 Explanation: Let the two numbers be x and y Given x : y = 3 : 7 .....(1) Now, x+6 : y+6 = 5 : 9 .....(2) From (1), x = 3y/7 From (2), 5y - 9x = 24 => 5y - 9(3y/7) = 24 => y = 21 => From(1), x = 9 Hence, the two numbers be 9 and 21

Q: A Committee of 5 persons is to be formed from a group of 6 gentlemen and 4 ladies. In how many ways can this be done if the committee is to be included atleast one lady? 1993 0

Answer : 3. "246"
Explanation :

Answer: C) 246 Explanation: A Committee of 5 persons is to be formed from 6 gentlemen and 4 ladies by taking.    (i) 1 lady out of 4 and 4 gentlemen out of 6  (ii) 2 ladies out of 4 and 3 gentlemen out of 6  (iii) 3 ladies out of 4 and 2 gentlemen out of 6  (iv) 4 ladies out of 4 and 1 gentlemen out of 6    In case I the number of ways = C14×C46 = 4 x 15 = 60  In case II the number of ways = C24×C36 = 6 x 20 = 120  In case III the number of ways = C34×C26 = 4 x 15 = 60 In case IV the number of ways = C44×C16 = 1 x 6 = 6    Hence, the required number of ways = 60 + 120 + 60 + 6 = 246

Answer : 2. "7.5"
Explanation :

Answer: B) 7.5 Explanation: The given number series follows a pattern that 11 11 - 5.5 = 5.5 5.5 + 4.5 = 10 10 - 3.5 = 6.5 6.5 + 2.5 = 9 9 - 1.5 = 7.5   Hence, the next number in the given number series is 7.5.
