1. The provisions related to Panchayati Raj have been discussed in the original Constitution under Part 9 by the 73rd Constitutional Amendment Act, 1992 (Article 243). Part 9, under the heading ‘Panchayats’, contains provisions related to Panchayati Raj up to Articles 243-243O (243-243O).

2. Panchayati Raj Day is celebrated every year on 24 April in India as the foundation of democracy.

3. The Panchayati Raj system is the system of local self-government in rural India.

4. Panchayati Raj system was implemented by the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in Bagdhari village of Nagaur district of Rajasthan on 2 October 1959.

6. The concept of Panchayati Raj in the Indian Constitution is enshrined in the Directive Principles of State Policy.

7. The tenure of Panchayats is fixed for five years but it can be dissolved even before the tenure.

1. The southeastern part of Rajasthan is a plateau, which is known as the 'South-Eastern Plateau and Hadoti Plateau'. This is an extension of the Malwa plateau.

2. The average height of this area is 500 meters and there is an extension of mountain ranges in a semi-moon shape which are known as Bundi and Mukundwara hills respectively. Chambal River and its main tributaries Kalisingh, Parvan and Parvati rivers flow here, the plains created by them are suitable for agriculture.

3. Southern-Eastern Plateau Region (Hadoti Plateau) Main features -

- 11 per cent of the state's population lives in this area.

- South Eastern Plateau region is 9.6 per cent of the total area of the state.

-It extends to Bhilwara, Photo, Bundi, Jhalawar and Baran districts.

- This plateau part is the Sankranti region between the Aravalli and Vindhyachal mountains.

- In this region there is a mixture of lava rocks and Vindhya rocks.

1. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has started Rajasthan Indira Rasoi Yojana to feed people two meals a day to fulfil his resolve that “no one should sleep hungry” in his state.

2. Through this scheme, poor people in Rajasthan are fed fresh and nutritious food for ₹ 8, sitting respectfully in one place.

3. A single thali costs ₹25, of which ₹17 is borne by the state government and ₹8 is taken from the beneficiary.
