Four major dams have been built on the Chambal River, including Gandhi Sagar Dam (Madhya Pradesh), Rana Pratap Sagar Dam, Jawahar Sagar Dam and Kota Barrage (Rajasthan). These dams provide water for irrigation and also generate hydroelectricity.
