Bikaner is popular as the centre where leather goods are manufactured. For tourists leather goods are of great interest as a 'work of art' as well as possessions. The leather goods are also exported to different parts of the world from the state.

James Tod has a prominent place in the historiography of Rajasthan. Tod has been referred as “Herodotus of the History of Rajasthan”,2 “Rajasthan ke itihas ke pita” (the father of the history of Rajasthan), founder of 'modern historiography of Rajasthan', “first modern histories of Rajasthan” etc.
