Human Rights Day is celebrated annually on December 10th to commemorate the day when the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948. The UDHR is a milestone document that proclaims the inalienable rights to which everyone is entitled as a human being, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth, or other status. Human Rights Day serves as a reminder to promote and protect the fundamental rights and dignity of all people around the world.

Sardar Baldev Singh was the first Defence Minister of India. He held this position in the Cabinet of Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru when the Ministry of Defence was established after India gained independence in 1947. Sardar Baldev Singh played a crucial role in the early years of independent India in organizing and managing the defense structure of the country. His tenure as Defence Minister contributed to the establishment and development of the Indian armed forces.

Under India's first-ever Chairmanship, the 23rd Summit of the SCO Council of Heads of State will be held in the virtual format on 4 July 2023, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
