In a bid to make commercial papers (CPs) attractive, the Reserve Bank of India has allowed issuers to buyback these instruments before maturity. The central bank, in its directions on CP, has also diluted by a notch the minimum credit rating requirement for CPs so that more companies can tap this route to meet their short-term funding requirements for their operations. A CP is an unsecured money market instrument issued in the form of a promissory note. These instruments are issued by corporate borrowers to diversify their sources of short-term borrowings and to provide and additional instrument to investors. In its directions on CPs, the RBI said the buyback of CP should be through the secondary market and at prevailing market price.

This incentive will be given irrespective of the caste, race, creed, religion or income of the beneficiaries, but they would have to provide a certificate regarding proof of girl’s age such as birth certificate or that of matric.

In a landmark ruling, a South Korean court sentenced a 31-year-old pedophile to 15 years in jail and ordered the country’s first ever chemical castration. The ruling is the first since the country passed a law in 2011 that allows hormonal treatment or chemical castration for convicted child molesters, who are at risk of repeating their crimes. South Korea was the first country in Asia to adopt this type of treatment, although Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Poland and the US state of California have used it for years.
