2. Symbolic/Number Analogy

It deals with typical relationship between value of alphabetical letters or principle and rules of mathematical equation. It is the process of obtaining similar alphabets and number having common relationship shown in the group.

Candidates have to find the relationship or order in which the alphabets/numbers have been grouped together in the first two sets of alphabets/numbers and then find a set of alternative to fit in place of question mark (?).

Important Facts

* The value of English alphabets in alphabetical order or in reverse order. The term ‘EJOTY’ which may be helpful to learn the alphabetical values of the letters.

* The terms “UF LOVE BY SHIRT G” which may be helpful to learn the reverse value of alphabetical letters.

* The ‘’BODMAS’’ rule while computing the values.

* Concept of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division while operating with numbers.

* Squares/Square root and cube/cube root minimum till 20.

* Basic operation of mathematics along with the algebraic formulae.

Ex.1. AB : NO : : LM : ?

(A) OL

(B) KP

(C) PK

(D) YZ

Answer : D

Solution

As,

A--------  +13   ----->N

B--------  +13   ----->O

Similarly,

L--------  +13  ----->Y

M--------  +13   ----->Z

Ex.2. AG : IO :: EK : ?

(A) LR

(B) MS

(C) PV

(D) SY

Answer : B

Solution

As,

A--------  +8   ----->I

B--------  +8   ----->O

Similarly,

L--------  +8   ----->Y

M--------  +8   ----->Z

3. Figural Analogy

When two figure are related in common nature with their unique properties as structure, rotation, numbers and position of articles. Similarly, such type of relationship among known as figural analogy.

Important Facts

* The clockwise and anti-clockwise rotations of the elements.

* Movement of element from a figure to another.

* Change in the value of elements

* The pattern of figures Eg. 12, 12; 13, 24; 14, 23; 12 34.

Example.1.

Answer : D

Solution:

Follow the given pattern inner figure becomes outer and outer figure moves in and gets inverted.
