A Chinese research group has begun construction of a giant neutrino telescope called the Tropical Deep-Sea Neutrino Telescope (Trident) in the South China Sea, named Hailing (Ocean Bell) in Chinese. The telescope is poised to become the world's most comprehensive “ghost particle” detector and will be located at a depth of 3,500 meters beneath the ocean surface.
