SSC CGL Notification and Exam Date Calendar

SSC has released SSC CGL exam calendar 2018 -19 for tier 1, tier 2, tier 3 and tier 4 on the official website. SSC CGL calendar includes all the schedule of online application date, exam date, admit card date and result date.

According to the latest notification, SSC CGL online form will start on 5 May 2018 and last date of SSC CGL online form submission is 04 June 2018. SSC CGL tier 1 exam will be conducted from 25 July 2018 to 20 August 2018.

SSC CGL exam pattern:

SSC CGL Exam pattern is the important part of CGL exam, it gives an idea about the division of questions, exam duration, and weightage of marks.

SSC CGL consists of four different tiers tier 1, tier 2 tier 3 and tier 4.  SSC CGL Tier 1 is a computer-based exam. Tier 1 divided into four subjects general intelligence & reasoning, general awareness, quantitative aptitude and English comprehension.

Every subject includes 25 questions and every question carry 2 marks. There is negative marking of 0.5 marks for each wrong answer. 

SSC CGL Tier 2 is also a computer-based exam. It includes four papers Quantitative Aptitude, English language, statistic, Finance and economics. 

Quantitative Aptitude, statistic, Finance and economics have 100 questions and every question carry 2 marks. These papers have a negative marking of 0.5 marks for each wrong answer.

The English language has 200 questions and every question 1 marks. There is negative marking for each wrong answer. Paper 3 has the negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.


SSC CGL Tier 3 conduct in pan & paper mode and total marks allotted 100.Tier 4 is computer proficiency test/skill test.

SSC CGL eligibility Criteria:

Before applying for the SSC CGL exam, you need to know about the SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria 2018.

SSC CGL eligibility consists factors such as age limit of the candidate, education qualification, Nationality and physical standard. This year SSC CGL will be calculating candidate’s age on 01 August 2018.

SSC CGL allows for age relaxation of SC/ST/Women/ex-serviceman while applying SSC CGL application form.

Candidates should have a bachelor's degree from any recognized university. Assistant Audit Officer and Junior Statistical Officer posts require special qualification in SSC CGL exam. 

Inspector in central exercise, sub – Inspector in CBI, sub – Inspector in NIA and Sub – Inspector in CBN is required strong physical standard.

The physical standard Test includes height & chest measurement, eye-sight distance vision. SSC CGL allows for height relaxation of the female candidate, Garhwali’s, Assamese, Gorkhas and members of Scheduled Tribes.

A candidate should be the citizen of India. Those candidates belonging to Nepal, Bhutan, Tibetan refugee the can apply in SSC CGL exam but whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

SSC CGL syllabus 2018

SSC CGL Syllabus plays important role in the preparation of SSC CGL exam, as you can plan your study according to syllabus.

SSC CGL syllabus has divided into 4 tiers. SSC CGL tier 1 consist of four-part general intelligence & reasoning, general awareness, quantitative aptitude and English comprehension. 

General intelligence & reasoning: the main purpose of this test is to check your mental ability & logical thinking. It includes Analogies, Number Series, Coding & de-coding, Venn Diagrams, Date & city matching, Small & Capital letters/numbers coding, Critical thinking, Emotional Intelligence, Social Intelligence and another topic.

General awareness: General awareness is high scoring subject than any other subject. This paper is comprised of current affairs, History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Policy & Scientific Research.

Quantitative Aptitude: This paper includes computation of whole numbers, decimals, fractions and relationships between numbers and Percentage.

English Comprehension: It is about Candidates’ ability to understand correct English, his basic comprehension and writing ability, etc.


SSC CGL tier 2 has four papers Quantitative Aptitude, English language, statistic, Finance and economics. 

Quantitative Aptitude:  Quantitative aptitude syllabus is same for SSC CGL tier 1 and tier 2 exams but the major difference is tier 2’s difficulty level, that is high in comparison to tier 1.

English language: English language paper is compulsory for all post. This paper is based on the error, fill in the blanks, synonyms, antonyms, spelling/detecting misspelled words, idioms & phrases, one-word substitution etc. 

Statistic: This paper is only for those candidates who apply for the post-Junior Statistics Officer (JSO). The difficulty level of its syllabus is graduation level. This paper includes Collection Classification and Presentation of Statistical Data, Measures of Dispersion, Time Series Analysis, Index Numbers and other.

Finance and economics: The syllabus is divided into two parts, Part- A Finance & Accounts and Part-B Economics & Governance. This paper is only for those candidates who apply for the post Assistant account officer. 

SSC CGL tier 3 includes essay writing / precis writing / letter/application writing.

SSC CGL Application Form: Apply Online Process

If you want to apply for SSC CGL exam online then I have good news for you, the process of filling SSC CGL application form is going to start on 05 May 2018. Here I am telling you about the procedure for filling the SSC CGL online application form. 

Before filling the application form you must require scanned photo and signature. Both photo and signature should be scanned in JPG format. 

The size of the photo should be less than 12 kb and greater than 4 kb & resolution should be 100 x 120 pixels. Therefore the size of the signature should be less than 12 kb and greater than 1 kb & resolution should be 140 x 60 pixels.

After that, you can fill the SSC CGL application form in two parts. You will have to pay 100 rupees for the application fees. SC/ST/Women/ Ex-servicemen eligible for reservation are exempted from fees.

SSC CGL Admit card and Hall Ticket:

SSC CGL Hall ticket is allotment letter issued by SSC through which you can attend the SSC CGL exam in the examination hall.
